Konami dropped a new trailer for its upcoming Castlevania game, Belmont’s Curse, as well as a release date: October 15. The trailer also revealed just who is going to be battling the forces of evil this time: Rose Belmont, the daughter of Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades.

Set in Paris in 1499, 23 years after the events of Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, after the city has been overwhelmed by a dark enemy. Rose must attempt to evade the effects of Dracula’s Curse and save the city from Death. The trailer implies she’s facing the aftermath of a mistake, as a voice (possibly Sypha) says, “God has given you another chance, Rose.”

Xbox reveals in the show’s recap post that Belmont’s Curse, “marries the classic structure of Castlevania with modern enhancements, including enhanced freedom and speed, tarot-based Arcana skills, and more.” This includes using the Belmont Family’s whip, the Vampire Killer, as both a weapon and a traversal tool, while picking up various other weapons along the way.

In addition to the gameplay, the trailer also reveals that the game is available on handhelds via Xbox Play Anywhere.
