Can’t get into Sony’s Home? You’re not alone

I’ve been trying to get into Sony’s Home since yesterday. I was in the closed beta. But now that they’ve opened it up to 15 million people in an open beta, it’s like nobody is answering the phone. Sony spokesman Patrick Seybold posted this on the Sony game blog:

We are aware that some people may be experiencing difficulty in accessing the PlayStation Home beta at present. This is due to overwhelming demand for the service as people access Home for the very first time since it became Open Beta and appeared on the XMB.

While we prepare solutions to ease the problem, you may continue to experience difficulties accessing Home. We kindly ask for your patience as we work to meet the incredible demand for this revolutionary service.

Well, Sony took an extra year to get this right. Hundreds of messages from angry gamers are piling up. The masterful sarcasm award goes to someone with the handle Mobiletone, who wrote:

and the understatement of the year award goes to:-
“some people may be experiencing difficulty”
i thank you, come up here and accept your platinum trophy Patrick.
another classic Sony product launch completed as expected.

[Update: I finally got in this evening at around 11 pm at night, PST. I’d recommend odd hours for anyone trying it out. ]
