Thatgamecompany announced today that it is holding a special in-game event to honor the players and creators within its MMO, Sky: Children of the Light. The Sky Creator Awards recognizes user-generated content and creators in a special event on August 15, with ten categories and two major awards — the Sky Community Award and Content of the Year Award — to be given out.
During the event, the winners will have the chance to claim their trophies and address the audience during the live event. Players will also be able to participate with various celebrations and activities during the celebration, such as dancing and parading.
The awards show also coincides with Sky’s sixth anniversary, which Thatgamecompany will celebrate within the game’s Aviary Village. Starting on July 7, the developers will host a social space and multiple gatherings and events leading up to the event, including a 24/7 livestream of programming. This will include behind-the-scenes footage and retrospectives on Sky’s history.
Jenova Chen, Thatgamecompany creative director, said in a statement, “Sky was always meant to be more than a game; it’s a canvas for human connection and creativity. With the first-ever Sky Creator Awards, we’re celebrating the incredible ways our players have taken that vision and made it their own. Their art, their passion, their stories, they don’t just expand the world of Sky, they elevate it. This is our chance to honor the community that continues to inspire us every day.”
