Omeda Studios avoided a jungle of toxicity in Predecessor thanks to GGWP.

GGWP partners with 25 game companies on gamer safety

GGWP, a platform dedicated to fostering positive player experiences, has teamed up with 25 game studios and other game companies to deliver better safety in games.

GGWP said it wants to be the go-to solution for game companies looking to safeguard and cultivate their gaming communities. The partners include Unity, thatgamecompany, Dreamhaven, Fatshark, Omeda Studios and Sandbox. The aim is to lead the charge in shaping safer and more inclusive online gaming environments.

Utilizing proactive, AI-powered moderation, GGWP empowers game developers to effectively manage communities across various genres and audience demographics. From competitive multiplayer games to family-friendly titles, GGWP’s comprehensive platform offers real-time incident detection and review, significantly reducing response times and enhancing player safety.

Dennis Fong, cofounder of GGWP, said in a statement, “Healthy communities and safety are critical to the player experience in games and online worlds. So many people spend a significant amount of their social time online, in diverse types of online games. Our mission is to have the right tools for game companies to protect players, build great communities and deliver the best online experience in any kind of game.”

Since becoming free to implement in August, GGWP has experienced substantial growth across diverse gaming genres, including first-person shooters, survival crafting games, and virtual reality experiences. Titles like Warhammer 40,000: Darktide and Toontown Rewritten have leveraged GGWP’s platform to address chat moderation and in-game toxicity, fostering vibrant and thriving in-game communities.

Moreover, GGWP’s impact extends to emerging developers prioritizing community health from the outset of their game’s release. By partnering with GGWP early in their game’s lifecycle, these developers are proactively addressing potential challenges related to player behavior and toxicity.

“We chose GGWP as our chat moderation partner to power Unity’s SafeText product after careful consideration and diligence that revealed best-in-class model performance along with an innovative roadmap to maintain leadership in the space.” said Benjy Boxer, VP of Unity Cloud, in a statement. “Additionally, it was important to us to find the right partner based on a shared mission to create a safe and positive gaming environment for everyone who plays. We are eager to continue to collaborate with GGWP to advance our Communication and Safety Suite.”

Brian Knox, director of platform services at Dreamhaven, highlighted GGWP’s role in supporting their mission of building welcoming and inclusive communities. Rodrigue Delrue from Fatshark emphasized GGWP’s integral role in cultivating a healthy and inclusive environment within their games.
