Zynga announced two new Champions joining Game of Thrones: Legends alongside a brand new event to celebrate the January 18 release of HBO’s original half-hour drama series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

And Zynga’s Game of Thrones: Slots will also promote the upcoming show.

Players of Game of Thrones: Legends will be able to add fan-favorite characters Ser Duncan the Tall and Egg to their Champion rosters, and starting on February 4, can utilize their strategic powers in a new-to-the-title jousting mini-game as part of the Tourney of Ashford Meadow event.

“As the Game of Thrones universe continues to expand, so does the world we are building within Game of Thrones: Legends, by bringing new characters, storylines, and gameplay features to our loyal house of players,” said Yaron Leyvand, Executive Vice President, Mobile Games at Zynga, in a statement. “Incorporating A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms brings the number of in-game Champions to over 150, allowing players to strategically build their ideal house to battle other dedicated fans in real-time, and to experience an authentic personalized story based on Game of Thrones lore.”

Starting today, Ser Duncan the Tall joins as a Legendary Protector, who can be a key anchor for a player’s battle team. His skill allows him to retaliate against enemy attacks when the team’s weakest member is struck, and his passive ability can block incoming attacks from reaching their intended victims.

He buys time for his allies, soaking up damage, to allow his allies to stack damage over time or to build effects like fire. On February 11, new Champion Egg also joins the game as a healer, best paired with his protector, Ser Duncan, for bonus healing and shield capabilities.

In the upcoming Tourney at Ashford Meadow event, players will face off against rival knights in a joust. They will choose one of three virtues to leverage against their opponent–Speed, Power, or Aim–and compete against the rival knight’s own chosen virtue.

Once the joust begins, the player will either win and proceed to another joust and greater rewards or lose everything they’ve won thus far. The fast-paced experience presents players with a series of high-risk, high-reward decisions, forcing them to choose between continuing to pursue greater glory or walking away with their winnings. Read more here.

Game of Thrones: Legends is an RPG puzzle mobile game featuring the world, characters, and lore of the popular HBO original drama series’ Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. In the game, players build and lead their own Westeros house, honing their tactics and skills as they strategically assemble a team of champions, equip weapons and gear, and face formidable foes from the Game of Thrones universe in puzzle battles. Players can tackle their quest solo in story mode or engage in raids, playing against each other as they level up their roster of champions. The game is officially licensed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on behalf of HBO.

I read A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms by George R.R. Martin, as well as much of the Game of Thrones lore. It’s a funny adventure that reminds me of tales of the young King Arthur.

From the world of Westeros comes an endearing tale centered on the adventures of an unexpected duo. A century before the events of “Game of Thrones,” two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.

The six-episode first season stars Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan “Dunk” the Tall and Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg.
