Zenless Zone Zero — the latest title from HoYoverse — has reached 50 million downloads globally in its first 72 hours. The studio celebrated the achievement with players, awarding some of its premium currency to users.

ZZZ launched on July 4, 2024 simultaneously on PCPlayStation 5Android and iOS devices. It’s unclear what proportion of these 50 million downloads came from mobile, but according to AppMagic estimates ZZZ earned $24.6 million on mobile in its first five days. Despite only being available for five days, ZZZ claimed the eighth spot in the top 10 revenue generators.

Moreover, Zenless Zone Zero outearned Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail combined during this period. Together, HoYoverse’s previous titles earned $10.6 million and $11.7 million respectively.

Ultimately, ZZZ benefitted from the audience HoYoverse’s other titles cultivated. Three quarters of Zenless Zone Zero’s 50 million downloads came from pre-registered users. The vast majority (76%) of this mobile audience came from China (51%) and Japan (25%).

Zenless Zone Zero failed to generate the same revenue as previous Hoyoverse titles: Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail

However, ZZZ’s first five days did not outperform its Hoyoverse counterparts’ launches. Genshin Impact earned $35.3 million in its first five days while Honkai: Star Rail set a new benchmark with $55 million earned in the same launch window.
