Yuga Labs acquires Proof Web3 digital art platform

Yuga Labs, the Web3 lifestyle and media company that created Bored Ape Yacht Club and Otherside, has announced the acquisition of Proof, a Web3 digital art platform.

This move aligns with Yuga Labs’ vision of becoming the gateway to Web3, as it plans to integrate Proof’s assets, particularly Moonbirds, into its expanding metaverse platform, Otherside.

The acquisition encompasses Proof’s entire ecosystem, including the Proof Collective, Moonbirds collection, Oddities, Mythics, and the Grails exhibition series. Yuga Labs aims to leverage Proof’s intellectual property, artistic portfolio, and community to enrich its Web3 offerings.

“As a company committed to championing art, culture, and community on the blockchain, we’re excited to have Proof join the Yuga ecosystem.” said Daniel Alegre, CEO of Yuga Labs, in a statement. “Moonbirds is a collection with great potential and many unifying brand elements with Otherside. We look forward to Proof Collective becoming an important part of our ongoing art and community engagement efforts.”

Moonbirds, a collection curated by Proof, will find its new home in Otherside, a metaverse designed to unite content creators, communities, and brands within the social fabric of Web3. The move signifies Yuga Labs’ dedication to fostering digital fine art and community engagement.

“We’re very excited to bring Moonbirds into Otherside. It’s the perfect home and future for our collectors,” said Kevin Rose, CEO of PROOF, in a statement. “With the Proof Collective on board, it shows Yuga’s commitment to digital fine art, and our combined resources will allow us to innovate faster and reach more people. It’s going to be an exciting journey.”

Miami-based Yuga Labs, since its inception in April 2021, has been working on Web3 initiatives such as Bored Ape Yacht Club and Otherside. The company owns significant Web3 projects’ intellectual property, such as MAYC, CryptoPunks, 10KTF and Meebits.

Rose cofounded Proof in 2021 along with digital artist Justin Mezzell. Proof has evolved into a digital art platform and art collector community.
