YouTubers feel ‘coerced’ into new Red subscription service

Earlier this week, Google announced that it is finally introducing its subscription model for YouTube, but it has the community creators on the site reeling from the uncertainty.

YouTube Red is a $10 monthly service that gives you access to everything on the video service but without ads. Members can even download YouTube clips for viewing offline, and it works across both mobile and desktop. The no-ad experience even includes Google’s new verticals like YouTube Gaming and YouTube Music. But while this sounds like an interesting new initiative, it is putting some fear into the people responsible for producing the content that YouTube relies on.
