Twitch-streaming tool XSplit gets V2 update as it faces competition from free OBS

Xbox One and PlayStation 4 may have built-in livestreaming capabilities, but many professional broadcasters prefer more powerful software that runs independently on a PC. One of those tools is getting a big update today.

SplitmediaLabs unleashed the version 2.0 revision of its XSplit broadcasting tool today. You can download it right now and try out many of its new features even if you only sign up for a free license. New additions in V2 include audio improvements and a “Screen Preview Editor.” The company even removed its logo from HD broadcasts for people using the free version. XSplit is one of the most popular tools for people who broadcast gameplay on sites like Twitch, and it is considered the premium option compared to competing tool Open Broadcasting Software, which is free.
