On other deal fronts, it’s very hard to pass up this week’s EA-themed Humble Bundle. Pay the minimum of $1 and get six solid EA games: Dead Space, Dead Space 3, Crysis 2 Maximum Edition, Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box, Medal of Honor, and Mirror’s Edge. For those who hate the Origin DRM, cool your jets just one moment – all but one of those games will have a Steam key available if you prefer that DRM over Origin (the exception being Dead Space 3). Beat the average price and you’ll get Battlefield 3 plus The Sims 3 and its Starter Pack. It’s also notable that EA is forgoing any share of the profits, so your purchase goes entirely to charity or a tip for Humble Bundle. (Another attempt to atone for sins of SimCity server inadequacies past? They’ll never say.)
The last notable deal for the week is Payday 2 – a first-person shooter with a twist. A gang of up to four play this co-op multiplayer, and rather than team deathmatch it up, all coordinate to rob a jewelry store, bank, or other classy establishment. The game launched on Tuesday this week at $39.99 for the Xbox 360 and PS3 and a reduced $29.99 for the Steam-activated PC download. But as you might expect, buying your Steam key from GameFly lets you reduce that price even further with a 20% off August-themed coupon, dropping the price to $23.99. Six dollar savings on its release week – not too shabby. Almost like you’re getting away with robbery.
