2K Games and Firaxis Games announced today that they will ship XCOM: Enemy Within this fall. The title is an expanded version of the XCOM: Enemy Unknown title that has seen great success for a strategy game and has revived the old XCOM brand.

The title will ship in North America on Nov. 12 and internationally on Nov. 15 for Windows PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Mac. The expansion pack has new maps, enemies, abilities, weapons, gameplay, and more added to the Game of the Year strategy title.

2K, a division of Take-Two Interactive, says that fans will experience an additional three to four playthroughs on average before encountering all of the new material included in XCOM: Enemy Within. So the title puts a lot of emphasis on replayability.

“The incredible critical and consumer response to XCOM: Enemy Unknown inspired us to offer new content that would deepen the strong bond that has been created for our XCOM brand,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “Firaxis Games is renowned for delivering massive, highly immersive PC expansions in the Civilization series, and XCOM: Enemy Within builds on that lineage and expands the experience for console gamers as well.”

The game has new soldier abilities like a genetics lab that you can use to physically enhance the abilities of your operatives. You’ll also be able to build mechs with flamethrowers and grenade launchers. The expansion will feature lots of new maps as well.
