Wildlight Entertainment, a studio formed of games industry veterans who worked on games like Apex Legends and Titanfall, announced its new game at The Game Awards 2025: Highguard. It’s a multiplayer first-person shooter set in a fantasy world, and will be available to play for free starting on January 26.

The trailer reveals several playable characters, called Wardens, who wield both magic and firearms. The two crews are battling for control of something called the Shieldbreaker, which can be used to topple enemy bases. The studio plans to reveal more about the game through January.

Dusty Welch, Wildlight CEO, said in a statement, “We’re a veteran team who’ve spent years together, creating some of the biggest hits in gaming, including Apex Legends, Call of Duty, and Titanfall. With our first game, we are hyper-focused on creating a new gaming universe of similarly epic scale and quality.”

Chad Grenier, Wildlight’s game director, added, “We created Wildlight because we wanted a game studio where design leads and new games can be built without compromise. Our time on Apex Legends and Titanfall taught us a lot about what it takes to build and sustain a successful franchise.”
