Who wants to be a (pretend) porn tycoon? This game wants your funding

A developer is trying to spank its adult-industry simulation into shape, and it needs your money to do so.

Developer Joy-Toilet, which is such a classy name, has started a crowdfunding campaign to help it finish Triple X Tycoon. As the title suggests, this is a sim about running a business making adult films. It starts in the 1970s — a golden era for the XXX industry — and it gives you the chance to build an empire as you move through the decades. Joy-Toilet is asking for $1,000, and it’s has 26 days to raise that amount.

This is the latest game to try to capitalize on the popularity of the “Tycoon” and “Simulation” genres. These include serious takes on the genre like Roller Coaster Tycoon, absurdities like Goat Simulator, and games that are so mundane that they are fun like Train Simulator.

At the same time, this is a game about pornography. Typically, distributors like Steam and the console platform holders have shunned these kinds of releases. But since Joy-Toilet is releasing it on PC, no one can stop it.

As part of its campaign, which is on Indiegogo, Triple X Tycoon developer has released the following video, which is styled after a 1970s adult film (it’s got some underwear shots, so let’s just call it not suitable for work):

The development team started work on Triple X Tycoon in October, but it has run out of cash. It’s hoping that fan contributions will help development reach its climax.

As for the game, Triple X Tycoon is a low-fi take on the porn making, but it has a lot of features and content to keep your gaming senses aroused. To succeed, you can make films as well as toys, magazines, and “1-900” numbers. These lead into award shows and random events like unplanned pregnancies and significant others breaking onto sets. Naturally, all the money you make from peddling flesh can go right back into upgrading your studio to aid in the production of bigger, better, more curvy pornography.

The amount of effort you put into your products will directly contribute to their sales.

If you’re wondering just how porny this porn game gets, the developers promise that it contains “a good bit” on its Indiegogo page. But it’s not just a game about people doing the horizontal mambo.

“We like to emphasize that this is a game about the adult industry as a whole and not a sex simulator,” the studio wrote. “For example, if you want to spend your time being the king/queen of sex toys instead of shooting film, by all means.”

And Joy-Toilet is also making it clear that Triple X Tycoon will attempt to serve everyone’s needs. That includes sex-positive features for the LGBT community.

“We are working hard to make sure everyone is represented equally in Triple X Tycoon,” Joy-Toilet wrote.

Finally, the studio confirms that all money contributed on Indiegogo is invested in development. And that’s primarily going to pay artists.

“Joy-Toilet is completely art deficient,” the studio wrote. “All the technical heavy lifting was completed last winter by our one programmer. So basically, if he fell into space tomorrow, it’d be OK. Now it’s just a matter of getting the artwork into the game.”

So if you’ve always wanted to give money to a company so it could pay people to draw genitals, now is your opportunity.
