Ubisoft acquires the studio that made The Crew racing game

Ubisoft has purchased French game studio Ivory Tower, the maker of The Crew racing game.

The price of the deal wasn’t disclosed. The founders of Ivory Tower came up with the idea for the open-world racing game almost a decade ago. They created a studio in Lyon, France, and convinced Ubisoft to publish the game.

After eight years, The Crew was released, and it has sold more than 3 million copies worldwide. This fall, the company is releasing an expansion, The Crew: Wild Run, on November 17.

The team has more than 100 members, and it will now be integrated into Ubisoft’s global talent network.

Ahmed Boukhelifa, the managing director of Ivory Tower, said in a statement, “We’ve always enjoyed a very positive relationship with Ubisoft. Working together on The Crew and celebrating its success made us both understand that we have huge potential in continuing to work together in the future. By joining Ubisoft, the team at Ivory Tower will continue to benefit from Ubisoft’s infrastructure, support, tools, technology, and vision. In return, we will contribute our own expertise to the broader Ubisoft story.”
