Respawn Entertainment, the development studio for EA’s blockbuster Titanfall sci-fi shooter series, said that it will create a VR game for the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset in 2019.

CEO Vince Zampella announced in a video played at the Oculus Connect event today that VR is an immersive platform that really makes you feel like you’re inside the world of a game, and it’s time to take the shooter franchise into VR.

Jason Rubin, vice president of content at Oculus, said he promised that the biggest games and franchises would come to VR. He said the Respawn announcement is a “down payment on that promise.”

Respawn joins companies such as Marvel, Warner Bros., and Bethesda that are bringing their big console and PC franchises to VR. VR sales have been slow, and the platform needs a boost from the most popular games in order to boost those sales.

Update, 2:36 p.m.: No, this isn’t going to be a Titanfall VR game: “While the game remains secret (spoiler: it’s not Titanfall or Star Wars), our relationship with Oculus is now out in the open,” a Respawn spokesperson said.
