In June, developer Oddworld Inhabitants announced it’s working on a high-definition remake of its PlayStation 1 platform-puzzle game Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee. The updated version, Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee New N’ Tasty, is due this summer.
At the recent Eurogamer Expo, Oddworld Inhabitants showed off the first bit of Abe HD in motion. The first citizen of Oddworld Inhabitants, company founder Lorne Lanning, spoke at length about the series during his panel. You can find the talk, which includes the footage, on YouTube.
Abe’s Oddysee HD is still in prealpha, but it’s already coming together as I believe a remake should. It captures the original game’s flavor while taking advantage of contemporary technology.
Here, see for yourselves:
These visuals are better than what I remember the PlayStation-era original looks like. Although, as usual, my nostalgia is too kind to those 32-bit-era graphics:
Yeah, New N’ Tasty is a huge improvement.
