Game development technology software company Havok announced its new visual effects product, Havok FX, today. The technology makes visual effects such as particle, dust, shrapnel, and smoke more CPU-friendly and less intensive in 3D game worlds, and it’s designed to run on the main processor rather than graphical chips.
MOBAs are incredibly popular, with the market bringing in $54 million a month in the U.S. alone, according to industry-intelligence firm SuperData Research. However, mega-hits like League of Legends and Dota 2 dominate the field.
