SuperData: Digital game revenues approach $10 billion in December

Huge games led to a huge December for digital revenues in the gaming industry, claims industry-tracking firm SuperData Research. Gaming fans spent nearly $10 billion on digital gaming content last month worldwide. Those huge results came as major hits like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Fortnite: Battle Royale, Call of Duty: WWII, and GTA Online all generated millions in sales.

“Worldwide digital spending grew 17 percent in December,” reads SuperData’s report. “Gamers spent almost $10 billion digitally on games across all platforms in December. Growth came primarily from an increase in premium PC, console, and mobile.”
