Kiloo announced today that its mobile game, Subway Surfers, has passed 1 billion downloads after three years on app stores. The Denmark-based publisher says that Subway Surfers, which it created in collaboration with SYBO Games, is now the fourth-most-downloaded mobile game of all time. That makes the free-to-play endless-runner a big hit in a mobile market worth an estimated $30 billion this year, according to the researchers at Newzoo.

One billion downloads is a difficult milestone to hit. Subway Surfers now joins company with the notable mobile hit Angry Birds (which has over 2 billion downloads). King has a total of 3.1 billion installs across all of our games but declined to note how many its most popular, Candy Crush Saga, has to date.

Kiloo keeps Subway Surfers fresh by adding a new location to the game each month. The next update will add Kenya.
