One of the first reveals of The Game Awards 2025 was a new Star Wars title. The teaser trailer was fairly barebones, showing only a small group of adventurers exploring a downed spaceship, with one wielding a lightsaber. According to Game Awards host Geoff Keighley, it’s a single-player action-RPG.

Aside from the game’s existence, the other major piece of information from the reveal was the director: Casey Hudson, who formerly worked on Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and the Mass Effect series. Arcanaut Studios is developing the title in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games.

According to the game’s creators, who revealed more details about the game after the trailer dropped, it’s intended to be a spiritual successor to Knights of the Old Republic, and follows a Force user who has the capacity to move towards light or dark.

Hudson said in statement, “Working on Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was one of the defining experiences of my career. With Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, we’re telling a completely new and different story with everything we’ve learned since – crafting an adventure about choice, destiny, and the timeless struggle between light and dark. It’s a dream come true to once again collaborate with Lucasfilm Games.”
