Nintendo showed off Splatoon today as another goofy entry in the ink-splatter genre.

In the third-person team-shooter game, you can fire ink at a white landscape, taking over territory. But enemies using different colors can take that territory back by spraying ink. The multiplayer combat can get quite messy, based on the video shown during Nintendo’s E3 digital broadcast.

The game reminds me of THQ’s 2008 console game, de Blob, where an ink-stained wretch sprays colored ink to convert a gray world into something wacky and beautiful.
