Sony confirmed today that its PlayStation Network has been having technical issues since yesterday.

“We are aware that users are having trouble accessing our network services since Thursday morning Tokyo time,” a Sony spokesman told the Wall Street Journal.

As VentureBeat reported yesterday, PSN was down on Christmas morning for many people, traditionally a huge gaming day as people unwrap their new consoles.

The Sony spokesman did not say what was causing the downtime. However, Lizard Squad, a group of cyberattackers on Twitter have claimed responsibility.
