Silver Lining Interactive announced today that it is launching a new initiative to support indie game developers, called the Silver Bullet Programme. This initiative supports smaller teams or solo creators, helping them get their game to market while retaining creative freedom. According to its mandate, the Silver Bullet Programme focuses on games with certain qualities, such as shareability, attention-grabbing ideas or absorbing gameplay.
The Silver Bullet Programme would provide each of the dev teams with up to $100,000 in funding, and tailored publishing support. Silver Lining also offers assistance with marketing, quality assurance and porting, as well as access to creators and influencers who can help market certain games.
Ross Griffith, Silver Lining’s head of marketing, said in a statement, “We’ve seen how games can change people’s lives, and we believe that these games often come from unexpected places like a garage, a bedroom, or a late-night passion project. Silver Bullet was created to help weird and out-there games get the shot they deserve. We’re not here to change your game or vision into what we think is marketable, as we don’t believe that kind of publishing works anymore. We want to catch awesome games we might otherwise miss, and amplify them, support them, and help them reach the audience they were always meant for.”
Silver Lining was formed by the founders of indie publisher Merge Games. Last year, Silver Lining took over the IP rights of certain games and retail products from Merge Games after Maximum Entertainment divested them. The company plans to interact with potential Silver Bullet devs at this year’s Gamescom.
