*Update 2/16/15: A few additions made to the original list now bumped up to 9 laptop deals. See details below.
It seems like electronics retailers these days will find any excuse to throw an sale. Why not everyone’s favorite holiday – Presidents’ Day? Although the majority of deals in these sales are focused on HDTVs and other new fancy do-dads, sales on gaming laptops are often overlooked.
This week the Microsoft Store threw up two gaming-ready laptops up in their Presidents’ Day Sale: a high end 17.3-inch Lenovo Y70 configuration w/ 16GB RAM and a 15.6-inch Acer V15 Nitro 4K Gaming laptop. While this 17.3-inch Lenovo isn’t the cheapest Y70 out there at $1,199 (we’ll get to that one later), the same 16GB configuration would cost you $1,349 if ordered directly from Lenovo ($150 more).
If you’re ready to step up to a 4K display for under $1,500, the Acer V 15 Nitro is at a great price point. The Microsoft Store cut a whopping $400 out of its $1,799 list price, slashing it to only $1,399. Both machines come with Microsoft’s Signature Edition, meaning they ditch all the extra bloatware you’d normally get in new laptops.
Check out the list below and you’ll notice a ton of Lenovo PCs. They’re what’s on sale in the gaming laptop world right now, and one place to find the most deals is Lenovo itself. This week they’ve cut the price on their new Intel Broadwell spec’d 14-inch Y40-80. The Core i5-5200U base model w/ 1TB HDD is now only $729 after $371 in instant savings – the lowest price ever on that configuration by $70. Swap out the HDD with a 512GB SSD and bump up the RAM to 16GB and Lenovo has the price down to $949 after coupon – a new low by $50 on that configuration.
The lowest priced machine on the list comes in via Dell’s Inspiron 15 7000 series laptop which comes with the latest 5th gen Intel Core i5 processor, a full HD display with touch capability, and a nice mid-range Radeon R7 M270 graphics card. While not as powerful as some of the other machines on the list, at $649 its definitely the affordable of the bunch which can still carry its own weight.
