Reviews Spotlight: Blood, shadows, and A World of Keflings

This week's Reviews Spotlight is all about asking questions. How does Lost in Shadow end? What kind of deranged sociopath would enjoy the bloody spectacle of Shank? And most importantly, what's up with Microsoft's new controller, really?

As always, I'll let the Bitmob community answer those questions.

Huh. Small World: A World of Keflings
By Ryan Conway
Courtesy of Bitmob, Ryan downloaded Ninja Bee's A World of Keflings and spent the past few days bringing wealth and prosperity to the cute mini-humans who populate this XBL game.

Now, I know what you're thinking — what the hell is a Kefling? The answer: a race of small, humanoid creatures…sort of like elves. In this animated world, a tribe of Keflings have recently discovered your frozen Xbox avatar in an ice block. As an act of appreciation, you agree to help them expand and improve their Ice Kingdom.

If you want to donate time and effort to the Kefling civilization, check out Ryan's full review.

Transforming D-Pad controller review
By Christian Davis
When Microsoft first revealed their new transforming controller, it seemed as though the company managed to find the AllSpark — the damn thing transformed! Well, the new shell finally hit stores and most people seem pleased with the new D-pad. But you're still skeptical, aren't you? You probably think that the new design really isn't worth the cash. Christian might just change that opinion, so give him a chance at the link above.

Lost in ShadowLost in Shadow: The fatal second act
By Suriel Vasquez
The premise of this game is enough to pique my interest. Check it out: Lost in Shadow has you play as a young boy's shadow, forced to negociate the threats of a tall tower, abundant with traps and enemies. This nebulous world of shadows is home to devious puzzles and curious characters, two elements which only serve to embellish the game's charm.

A veteran of 2D platformers, Suriel thoroughly picks apart this Wii game. Is a cool concept enough to set Lost in Shadow apart?

Xbox Live indie game: Solar
By Corey Williams
If you're one of the few people who maintains a bizarre fantasy to live life as a star, then you're in luck! For 80 Microsoft Points, Solar promises to fulfill that subconscious desire we all apparently have: to float through space as a star, slowly collecting planetary spheres into your gravity well. With no story, this Xbox Live indie game devotes itself to the organic spectacle of physics, as solar bodies move, collide, and grow. Sort of beautiful, isn't it?

Shank review
By Mike Gnade
This game isn't for the faint of heart. Here's the blood-curdling jist in a sentence or two: Shank follows the eponymous character as he seeks revenge over his former gangmates who raped Shank's girlfriend, burned down his house, and tried to kill him. In short, hours of glorious violence ensues. By this point, you're either really interested or really offended. To the former, check out Mike's review. To the latter, I thoroughly apologize.
