LOS ANGELES — Rare’s games come back as a collection called Rare Replay, releasing on Xbox One on Aug. 4.

Announced this morning at Microsoft’s E3 2015 press conference, this collection of games such as Banjo-Kazooie, Kameo, Killer Instinct, Viva Piñata, Battletoads, and Perfect Dark are part of this Xbox One exclusive. The British developer used to be a second party studio for Nintendo, but Microsoft acquired the company in 2002. This release makes use of the company’s back catalog of fan favorites.

The company also announced a new adventure game for Xbox One, titled Sea of Thieves.

Gamers and press speculated about older Rare games coming to the Xbox One when the recent indie hit Shovel Knight appeared on Xbox Live with Battletoads boss characters. Battletoads is the famous (infamous) Rare game for NES that’s gone down as one of the most difficult experiences in the industry’s history.
