It’s time for Nintendo to fully capitalize on the nostalgia of the original wave of Pokémon fans.

The publisher announced today during its Direct livestream that Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow will hit the 3DS’s Virtual Console. On February 27, you’ll get the chance to replay the Game Boy classics on Nintendo’s newest portable hardware.

But these are not just straight ports of the Game Boy games. If they were, you’d need the link cable to trade your catches with friends — and the 3DS does not have a port for the link cable.

So, instead, Nintendo added wireless trading to the original games. This is the first time the original versions of the first Pokémon games will have this capability.
