Game Freak, the developer best known for its work on the Pokémon series, revealed a new, non-Pokémon IP at today’s Xbox Games Showcase. Beast of Reincarnation is an action-adventure game set in post-apocalyptic Japan that follows the adventures of Emma the Sealer. The trailer gives a release window in 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and it also launches day one on Game Pass.

Players join Emma and her dog friend Koo in the year 4026 as they attempt to undo a spreading corruption exterminating humanity. The trailer gives a few gameplay hints on how she’ll do that, showing Emma wielding a blade against evil and traversing her environment with vines. Kota Furushima takes the helm as the game’s director.

Game Freak previously teased the game, codenamed “Project Bloom.” At the time it was first revealed, Project Bloom was being published by Take-Two’s now-defunct Private Division label.

Beast of Reincarnation launches under the auspices of new publisher Fictions. Mika Kurasawa, Fictions’ executive producer, said in a statement, “It’s incredible to be working with Game Director Furushima-san and the renowned development team at Game Freak. We greatly value their continued collaboration and trust. We are so excited to show players a glimpse into the stunning world and intense combat of Beast of Reincarnation.”
