Niantic Spatial announced that Paramount Pictures has partnered with it on adding an immersive mission for The Running Man film to the Ingress location-based game.

For over a decade, Niantic Spatial said that, through Ingress, it has worked to bring stories off the screen and into the streets. To make the world itself a stage for adventure, where technology blurs the line between imagination and reality.

Now it’s partnering with Paramount Pictures to celebrate their upcoming film, The Running Man, with a special experience inside Ingress from November 12 to November 19. The themes of the film resonate deeply with the world of Ingress, making this a perfect match. It’s an opportunity to leverage Ingress as a unique discovery vehicle, inviting players to explore a narrative inspired by the film.

This collaboration also marks a significant milestone for Ingress, with the game celebrating its 13th anniversary in November. For over a decade, Ingress has revealed a hidden world, a mysterious layer of reality existing just beyond our own. A trailblazer, it proved that a persistent, global-scale story could turn your daily walk into a mission and your city into a contested territory for a dedicated global community.

With The Running Man collaboration, Niantic Spatial is tapping into that same spirit of real-world discovery. Those exploring the world through Ingress will find a special media drop globally that delves into the film’s plot, while a special city-wide walking mission and community event awaits those on the ground in Los Angeles.

Players won’t just be watching a trailer; they’ll be embarking on a real-world quest inspired by it. Moving through the city, guided by a story that channels the spirit of the film, and engaging with a narrative woven directly into the fabric of the real world.

This collaboration is just one example of how Niantic Spatial is using geospatial AI to turn the world into a living, intelligent canvas, empowering any creator or storyteller to craft their own immersive and interactive worlds atop our own.
