Things are starting to look up for Nintendo.
After reporting a profit for the year, the Japanese game company revealed today that Wii U sales were up about 15 percent when compared to the first four months of 2014. The 3DS was also up about 65 percent over the same period last year.
Software has also been performing well, with Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire having now sold over 3 million combined digital and physical copies in the U.S. alone on the 3DS since their release last November. Super Mario 3D World has sold more than 2 million copies on the Wii U since it came out in November 2013.
As for games actually released in April, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D finished as the No. 5 best-selling software SKU in April. It is the first game that only works on the New Nintendo 3DS.
Things are busy at Nintendo. The company is working on a mobile deal with DeNA and an agreement with Universal to bring Nintendo-themed attractions to Universal theme parks. Nintendo is also working on a new system, the NX, but we won’t hear more about that until 2016.
