OpTic Texas won its back-to-back victory for the first time, taking the Grand Final of the Call of Duty League (CDL) Championship for the second year in a row.
The esports team won against the Vancouver Surge in conclusion of the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 season.
Hector Rodriguez, owner of OpTic Gaming, said at the awards event, “Everything about this entire year has been insane. No one could have written a better script.” This final match provided the kind of excitement that esports needs to keep broadening its appeal.
Mason “Mercules” Ramsey won the MVP for the tournament. OpTic Texas and Vancouver Surge went back and forth, but in the final match OpTic Texas came out on top with a 5-3 win to grab its place as the Call of Duty League Championship 2025 winner. The coach, Damon “Karma” Barla, now has a fifth championship under his belt, as he won three as a player and two in the past two years as a coach.
The team is headed to Riyadh for the Esports World Cup. That will be the final tournament for the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 game. And after that, a new season will start with Call of Duty: Black Ops 7.
