A three-man development team called Stoic Games is making a beautiful PC role-playing adventure based on Viking legend, and it is due out soon.
The Banner Saga has Viking men and women fleeing their homes as larger, horned Vikings attack them. It’s a story-driven PC game that has players making combat, conversation, and travel decisions, and each choice affects the outcome.
The Banner Saga is due out Jan. 14 on PC and Mac.

The Banner Saga uses beautiful hand-drawn art for its cutscenes and gameplay. Check out the character gallery below for a look at some of the character designs:
The combat uses turn-based strategy that requires players to use smart positioning and movement to come out on top.
Developer Stoic first funded The Banner Saga in a Kickstarter back in March 2012. Fans ended up raising more than $700,000, way more than the developer’s $100,000 goal.
Stoic’s founders previously worked at renowned RPG developer BioWare. That company is responsible for beloved games like Knights of the Old Republic and Dragon Age, but Stoic isn’t positioning The Banner Saga as a triple-A major release. Instead, the studio is teaming with indie publisher Versus Evil to help it distribute the title.
