In a late Thursday night announcement out of Japan, a polygonal version of Nintendo president Satoru Iwata gave details about downloadable content for the 3DS platformer New Super Mario Bros. 2.

Iwata unveiled three new level packs.

The first group of levels is gold-focused, with 30,000 coins spread across its three courses. The second set is primarily for competitive players. Nintendo will feature the worldwide top scores for this pack on the game’s homepage. The third collection, according to Iwata, is for experts only. The developer designed this bundle’s three courses to challenge highly skilled players.

Nintendo is going to send out a SpotPass message to 3DS owners on Tuesday about this new DLC. Once players click on that notification, a purchasing option will appear in NSMB2’s Coin Rush mode.

In Japan, the three-stage packs will go for 200 yen apiece. That translates to roughly $2.50 for three new levels.

Nintendo of America will make an announcement about this subject soon. We’ll update with any differing details for the North American version of the game.
