Wii U

In a Nintendo Direct streaming video, company president Satoru Iwata talked about the future of the Wii U.

Iwata announced two planned updates to the Wii U console early in the show. Nintendo will release these software improvements in spring and summer.

The publisher pointed to the Wii U’s slow software load times as the main reason for these updates. Currently, it takes nearly 20 to 30 seconds to launch some games and apps on Nintendo’s latest home console.

Iwata claims Nintendo will need both updates to fix the problem.

The spring update will also add Virtual Console titles to the Wii U and the chance to play those classic titles directly on the GamePad.
