Nintendo said it would keep its full-year forecast for Switch 2 sales at 19 million after it reported its nine-month financials for its current fiscal year.
The Switch 2 has sold 17.37 million units so far, and Nintendo is expecting sales to cross 19 million units for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026. Nintendo’s revenues were up 86% from a year ago, while profits were up 24%, in the fiscal third quarter.
In the fiscal third quarter ending December 31, 2025, the company sold seven million units of the Switch 2. However, investors have been wary about the widely publicized rise of memory chip prices, thanks to the popularity of AI chips, which also use memory. Still, the Switch 2 is the fastest-selling Nintendo console to date.
The company maintained its November forecast for Switch 2 sales of 19 million units in the fiscal year ending March 2026. Nintendo has so far sold 17.37 million units of the Switch 2. It sold 7 million units in the December quarter alone. Nintendo has sold 39 million copies of Switch 2 software since the launch.

Nintendo’s revenues were light at 806.32 billion yen, compared with the 847.73 billion yen expected. The net profit was higher, however. Nintendo reported 159.93 billion yen for its net profit in the fiscal third quarter, compared to 147.3 billion yen expected.
Mario Kart World, one of the mainstays on the Switch 2, reported sales of 14 million and Donkey Kong Bananza sold 4.25 million units — both numbers are since the Switch 2 debuted in June 2025. The old Switch sold 3.25 million units past nine months.
On the Switch 2, Nintendo said it expects to launch Mario Tennis Fever in February and Pokémon Pokopia in March.
