Nintendo console Wii U

The Nintendo Wii U has long load times. Going from a game to the homescreen can often take 20 seconds or more.

Nintendo already revealed that it plans to address those load times in a system update due out next month. Earlier today, the publisher posted a YouTube video that compares the current situation to a system running the patched operating system.

See the difference in speed for yourself:

The video reveals that the current firmware loads the Wii U homescreen menu in about 17 seconds. The update will cut that time down to about 6 seconds. That’s still not great, but it’s much better than what Wii U owners are dealing with now.
