Nex announced today that it is bringing its active play, motion-sensing game system Nex Playground to new Walmart and Sam’s Club locations. The new console will soon be available to over 2,500 Walmart locations as part of a “strategic retail expansion,” making it more easily available for all families.
In addition to Walmart, Nex plans to sell the Playground to 600 Sam’s Club locations in the U.S., making it to the company’s first membership club partner. The retailer is also offering a 2-in-1 bundle with the console and its travel case exclusively for its members. Customers have a chance to demo the console in both stores, trying it out before buying it.
The Nex Playground promotes itself as a kid-safe console, not having any in-game purchases, ads or online browsing capabilities. It’s expanding its game library to include titles such as How to Train Your Dragon: Riders of the Skies, Cookie Monster’s Cookie Factory and Zumba Fitness Party.
David Lee, CEO and co-founder of Nex, said in a statement, “Walmart’s mission to help people live healthier aligns perfectly with Nex’s vision of helping families rediscover the joy of movement. With Sam’s Club now joining as our first membership club partner, Nex Playground is reaching more families than ever before. We’re especially excited for customers and members to experience our expanded in-store demo stations as they roll out across the country.”
