Mewtwo strikes back.

The popular Pokémon becomes Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS’ first downloadable character today. However, that’s only if you’ve registered both versions with Nintendo. If so, you’ll receive a code today that will unlock Mewtwo. Other players will eventually be able to buy the character on April 28.

This is the first time Nintendo has created a new character for a Smash Bros. game after its release. It also plans to add Lucas from Mother 3 to the fighter in June, and it has also opened up a request form so that players may submit their picks for future additions.

Mewtwo was originally playable in Super Smash Bros. Melee for the GameCube, but he skipped the Wii’s Super Smash Bros. Brawl. He was originally considered a weak fighter due to his lack of speed, but this new version is much faster.
