Metroid Fusion, Mario & Luigi, and more GBA games coming to Wii U Virtual Console

Nintendo is looking to its classic handheld library to spice up its offerings for the struggling Wii U console.

During a Nintendo Direct presentation today, company president Satoru Iwata revealed that it is planning on releasing a handful of GBA games for the Wii U’s Virtual Console. These include Metroid Fusion, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, and Super Mario Advance: Yoshi’s Island.

The publisher did not announce dates or pricing for the upcoming games, and Iwata said that more GBA titles are in the works.

Nintendo in Japan revealed that the Virtual Console in that country was getting a much wider selection of GBA games. That includes The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap, F-Zero, Golden Sun, and Advance Wars. No word on whether those will come to the North American eShop.

Wii U currently hosts a number of Super Nintendo and NES Virtual Console games. In addition to the GBA titles, Nintendo recently revealed that it would add DS games to the system.
