Metatheory today announced Myth & Mortar, its new internal development studio, along with its debut title, Gido Gido: Kaiju Battle Party.

Gido Gido is a 4v4 online co-op party game where adorable kaiju called Gido compete for territory in a bustling, fully destructible city. The game’s signature feature lets players fuse their Gido with teammates into a single, more powerful squad-controlled multi-headed Gido, creating chaotic, spectacular action.

“Launching Myth & Mortar allows us to support Maso Lin and his team as they bring a creative, multiplayer experience to life,” said Kevin Lin, co-founder of Metatheory and Twitch, in a statement. “Their focus on imaginative worlds and fresh gameplay mechanics fits perfectly with our vision for innovative games that connect players.”

Each Gido has its own unique ability, and fused forms combine the powers of all participating players. Coordinated teamwork allows these merged Gido to unleash powerful, over-the-top attacks, rewarding cooperation and strategy in every match.

Gido Gido is developed by Myth & Mortar, Metatheory’s new Taiwan-based game studio, led by producer Maso Lin. Maso brings extensive experience from the acclaimed side-scrolling platformer The Legend of Tianding. With Gido Gido, Maso set out to create a party game set in a playful, inviting world that players would love to inhabit, even as they smash through it, and to introduce a fusion mechanic designed to push the genre forward.

“Gido Gido is all about the joy of playing together,” said Maso Lin, producer, in a statement. “We built a cozy city with adorable monsters and simple controls, then turned up the mayhem with fast-paced battles and the ability to fuse with friends. The fusion feature is an idea I’ve carried for almost a decade, and I finally found a way to make it fun for players while introducing a new kind of gameplay.”

Maso previously collaborated with Ruby Tsai on The Legend of Tianding, who now serves as art director on Gido Gido. Ruby crafted the game’s visual identity around a carefully balanced, comic-inspired aesthetic, where color, shape, and effects work together to create a lively visual experience. Thoughtfully tuned palettes, simple yet expressive silhouettes, and handcrafted VFX give each Gido a clear personality and charm while maintaining strong readability during breakneck-speed gameplay.

“I wanted Gido Gido to feel loud, colorful, and playful, drawing inspiration from modern
Americana cartoons and comics,” said Ruby Tsai, art director, in a statement. “Bold shapes, vibrant colors, and exaggerated details give every kaiju personality, making the game feel fun, friendly, and perfect for a party experience.”

Gido Gido: Kaiju Battle Party features an extensive roadmap spanning new Gido, abilities,
maps, and gameplay modes.
