TemPolor has unveiled Melo-D as the world’s first generative AI guitar. It’s a smart instrument built to make music creation more accessible through AI-powered generation and guided play.
Designed for users of all skill levels, Melo-D removes two major barriers that have traditionally limited music-making: the physical dexterity required to play and the music theory knowledge needed to compose, using redesigned hardware, guided interaction, and generative AI to make performance and creation far more intuitive. The company has launched a Kickstarter campaign to crowdsource funding.
With a patented folding design and a built-in 2.4-inch LCD touchscreen, Melo-D functions as a fully standalone device, eliminating the need for a smartphone or external app for its core experience. Using TemPolor’s proprietary TemPolor AI Music Model, it can transform humming into guitar solos and generate complete original songs with lyrics and vocals from simple text inputs.
“Our goal with Melo-D was to lower the barrier between inspiration and creation,” said Jason Jia, founder of TemPolor, in a statement. “We wanted to build an instrument that feels approachable to beginners, useful to creators, and exciting from the very first interaction, whether someone is playing, learning, or generating a completely original song.”
