A new Mario game is due out this month for the Nintendo Switch. No — not Super Mario Odyssey, which dominated this year’s E3 (the Electronic Entertainment Expo trade and fan show) in Los Angeles this past June. Nintendo’s next big Switch game is Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle, which French publisher Ubisoft developed. It’s a turn-based tactics game that mashes up the Mushroom Kingdom with Ubisoft’s wacky Rabbid characters. If that sounds like an odd remix, don’t worry — it all works quite well together. Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle is due out August 29.

To give you an idea of what to expect, reviews editor Mike Minotti and I (PC gaming editor/video guy) Jeffrey Grubb got together to take a look at 40 minutes of Mario + Rabbids gameplay. We cover only the first world of the game, which is a prolonged tutorial that teaches you the basics by throwing you into combat. But we also check out some of the world-exploration bits as well.

Catch the video at the top of the story, and keep an eye out for the review in the next couple of days.
