David Haddad, who has served as Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment president for 12 years, is leaving the company. He will depart in April.
During his time at the publisher, WBIE saw some major successes with franchises like Batman, Harry Potter and Mortal Kombat. In recent years, however, the publisher has struggled with misses like Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
“David has thoughtfully and purposefully chosen a time when our release schedule is lighter which will help minimize disruption to our ongoing projects and strategic plans and allow this team to smoothly prepare for its next record-breaking title,” Warner Bros. Discovery global streaming and games CEO and president JB Perrette said in a message to staff that was reported by Variety.
Warner Bros. Discovery is looking for his successor. Haddad had a long run at Warner Bros., and transitions after such steady leadership can prove challenging. His remaining time at the publisher until April should help make that transition smoother.
“I am so proud of everything we’ve accomplished together at Warner Bros. Games during my time with the company,” noted Haddad. “It has been an absolute pleasure working on and building our iconic gaming franchises, and I will continue to be an enthusiastic supporter of this talented team’s future endeavors. I look forward to working on the next chapter of my career and will always be grateful for my time with Warner Bros. Games.“
