Liquid Swords, the studio founded by Just Cause creator Christofer Sundberg, today announced the launch date of its debut game, Samson: A Tyndalston Story. The action game launches on April 8 on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. The studio first revealed the project last year at the PC Gaming Show, calling it a “a consequence-heavy noir action game.”

Samson follows the titular character in the titular city, a man who is trying to erase his ever-growing debt in the face of a corrupt system. To do so, he must take on a series of jobs that will effect his standing within the city, while working from a limited daily pool of action points. The city itself will react to what Samson does, with each action having consequences.

Sundberg said in a statement, “I’ve spent a large part of my career building massive games. With Samson, we knew that bigger doesn’t always equal better and had to be extremely deliberate in what we built. Samson is the result of our team’s work, tirelessly fine-tuning what our players expect, and more importantly, what makes games fun. It’s not bloated, it’s all about focus, and we keep players at the center of every decision.”

Liquid Swords itself was founded in 2020, with backing from Netease Games. It suffered layoffs in early 2025, noting at the time, “Despite these regrettable changes, Liquid Swords remains focused on Sundberg’s vision of simplifying the game development process to create exceptional gaming experiences for players. The studio is confident that this extremely unfortunate setback will not prevent it from realizing its original ambition.”
