Nintendo’s One Last Thing at this morning’s Direct was the reveal of a new 3D Kirby game in the works. Kirby and the World Beyond is targeting a spring 2027 launch, in time for the series’ 35th anniversary.

The trailer shows Kirby exploring a world very much like the one he inhabits in earlier games. But eventually, he breaks through a wall (with the help of a very unwilling King Dedede), discovering a literal world beyond. The trailer shows some new abilities, characters, and weapons, including a massive energy sword.

The trailer doesn’t show much of either world, as this is still a tease of what’s to come. Very likely, we’ll get another Direct in 2027. In the meantime, Nintendo has its plate full for the rest of 2026, with Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake being the major tentpoles on the Big N’s calendar.
