KingsIsle Entertainment, the Texas-based developer of MMOs Wizard101 and Pirate101, announced its newest game today. Called Ravenwood Academy: A Wizard101 Story, the game is KingsIsle’s first single-player game and is coming to PC via Steam. According to the developer, the game is a life sim/visual novel and a prequel to Wizard101 set in the same universe.
Players are Ravenwood Academy attendees who must manage their time each day. With four slots to fill, they have to keep up with their studies, extracurriculars, mini-games and social lives. As they build relationships with other students, they can make friends and rivals and romantic partners. The game features several returning characters from Wizard 101.
Wizard101 launched in 2008 and is currently a free-to-play MMO. Ravenwood is one of the locations in the game, and the single-player prequel offers players a new glimpse at it. According to KingsIsle, the game also features a main narrative as players attempt to uncover a mystery on Ravenwood’s campus. This will consist of a series of “crisis incidents” and “trials,” and the main narrative has multiple endings depending on which characters the player has befriended.
