Social gaming publisher Kabam has secured the exclusive distribution rights for JJSG (also known as Three Kingdoms Action in China), a role-playing strategy title that’s currently China’s No. 1 web game, according to the Baidu Index.
Kabam and original Three Kingdoms Action developer Joy You will re-engineer JJSG into a medieval theme for the new Western audience.
“Our licensing of JJSG shows yet again how Kabam can work with the world’s most exciting and innovative programmers to bring their games to even wider audiences,” said Kevin Chou, the co-founder and chief executive officer of Kabam in a press release sent to GamesBeat. “Game companies, wherever they are located, are realizing that Kabam is becoming the go-to company when they want to expose their titles to the opportunities outside of their home markets.”
“Signing with Kabam is a real coup for us,” said Steven Shi, a founder of Joy You. “We’ve paid close attention to the success Kabam has had in taking third-party games and widening their appeal by introducing them to huge new audiences.”
Kabam is one of the biggest social gaming publishers, currently valued at $700 million.
