Interviewing the creator of Cyber-Wing……Devin Passage

The creator of Cyber-Wing [cyber-wing.net] and many many other games. Gives me and inside scoop on his mind, and where his inspiration to create games come from. Check out his newest release Cyber-Wing, and his site at Martianarctic.com. A independent game developer  making games that every gamer would love.

What was the first concept idea you though about the game?

Originally I wanted the game to be that you controlled a giant, titan[www.gamesworkshop.com] like robot and commanded huge legions of troops but then it just turned into herzog zwei the more and more i thought about it.

Did you achieve that concept?

Yes, i think the game is the best and probably only 3D remake of Herzog Zwei that will ever be made.

What was the first game you made?

I programmed my first game in 1999. You were a wizard who shoved blobs through crystals at other wizards. Yeah, Kind of weird.

Do you think you impacted the gaming community?

Certainly.

If yes, then how much do you think you have impacted it?

There have probably been over 10K downloads of the game and I think alot of people like it. It is a very niche game, but there are always people who will like any game you make. Just always a question of how many people, in the realm of financial success. However, I think that the effect on the gaming community is very strong: a game many people wanted is now available, and that makes me happy.

What was the best game you ever made?

Cyber-Wing is as a whole package definitely my best work yet.

who was your first partner, that you made a game with?

My friend Bert who now works for Doublefine Productions, worked on early games with me. I learned much of my programming from him.

Did you finish the game?

We did finish some games, look up Chain Raid and Merchants of Andromeda.

What was your favorite game as a kid?

There were too many to name.

Do you still play it?

I do still play alot of old school games, both for fun and inspiration to make new games in their spirit.

What is your favorite game you play right now?

Heroes of Newerth
