Happy New Year, GamesBeat readers! I hope you’re all enjoying 2026 so far, and you’ve made your resolutions for the year. I’ve made a few, and while I won’t spoil them for you, I will say that I’m hoping to bring some new content to GamesBeat and to all of you this year. I’m excited, especially since GamesBeat has essentially completed its debut season as an independent company.

Speaking of which, my final article of 2025 — I think also GamesBeat’s final article of 2025, full stop — was a BOSS Mode focusing on none other than my own boss, Gina Joseph. Once I realized that the final day of the year was going to coincide with a planned BOSS Mode publishing date, I knew I wanted Gina to be the one to bring us home for the year. She’s the inspiration behind the series and the one who’s encouraged me at every stage of its creation.

That being said, there aren’t as many “outtakes” from her interview as there usually are from one of my BOSS Mode interviews. While sometimes I chop up bits of an interview (usually because I like to have a bit of banter between questions that would be tedious if translated to print), in this case I used almost all of the interview with Gina.

The only thing I will reveal is that we may have begun planning a gaming tournament for the GamesBeat team — and I think Gina is going to give all of us a run for our money.

I have a few more outtakes from my interview with Nancy Chen, the founder of Girlies Squad. Nancy was a delight to speak with, especially because I’d already watched (and enjoyed) several of her TikTok videos before ever speaking with her for BOSS Mode. Below are a few questions that I cut from my interview with her for expediency…
