Tathvamasi Studios announced that its debut game, Suri: The Seventh Note, is available now on PlayStation 5 and the PC via Steam.
Don’t blink, because if you do, you’ll miss that Indian game developers are making triple-A games. We wrote about The Age of Bhaarat this summer. But take a look at Suri: The Seventh Note from Bengalaru, India-based Tathvamasi Studios.
The rhythm action platformer, backed by Sony’s PlayStation India Hero Project, officially launches on October 30, 2026, following a three-day early access period for Digital Deluxe Edition owners that began on October 27, 2026.
After nearly four years of development, SURI: The Seventh Note arrives as a meticulously crafted world where every environment, character, and animation has been illustrated to create a distinctive visual identity.
“Suri is our love letter to the games we adore with our own twists in terms gameplay and presentation, and it’s finally here,” said Glen Martin, Tathvamasi Studios CEO and game director. “Hopefully you have as much fun playing it as we did making it.”
To celebrate the launch, Tathvamasi Studios has released a new gameplay trailer focusing on one of the game’s marquee features: its intense escape sequences. These cinematic pursuit moments fuse music and gameplay into one, with every action aligned to the beat as Ajira races through a world that shifts and reacts to the rhythm.

The launch trailer also highlights the game’s musical score, which is inspired by the visuals and feel of Suri’s biomes—environments shaped by the wide and deep cultural history of India. The team first determined the variety of biomes it wanted to explore to showcase the breadth of biodiversity across the Indian subcontinent, then researched the cultures of those regions and collected references and stories from across the country.
For example, the team researched Rajput culture and architecture for the Desert biome, tribal culture from Kerala and Theyyam aesthetics for the Forest biome, and Sikkimese architecture for the Mountain biome, among others. Folktales from these regions informed ideas for art and characters, though the team was clear that it did not want to heavily use characters and stories from Indian mythology. Instead, the research was used to understand world-building and create something original inspired by it.
A score built on texture, tradition, and a 480-millisecond sweet spot Instrumental to the journey was making music not just something players heard, but something they mastered. Eighty percent of the music in the game was recorded with original analogue instruments rather than synthesized electronically, preserving the texture of the music.
The score features violin, bamboo flutes, veena, Carnatic female voices, and traditional Indian percussion such as idakkai and ghanjira, among others. The team also tailored instrumentation to the island’s regions: a veena is used in the southern part of Suri, while the desert portions draw on Rajasthan and its musical traditions.
Adapting that musical variety to the speed of human thumbs on a controller proved to be the team’s most important challenge. After extensive trial and error, Tathvamasi Studios settled on a 480-millisecond gap between main beats—a balance between responsiveness, rhythmic clarity, and gameplay momentum. The result is a hybrid of genres and styles: a hip-hop-like structure with Indian textures (Indian percussion instruments) laid over it, deliberately bouncy and not aggressive in nature.
Built with the PlayStation India Hero Project
Suri: The Seventh Note is proud to be part of the PlayStation India Hero Project. Working closely with the PlayStation team helped bring the vision to life, particularly in developing the studio’s Rhythm Haptics Engine and ensuring Suri feels right at home on PS5.
